Artist Statement

I have created work for the past 30 years under various aliases, including: Huey , Weatherby Ornutt,
Romeo Garbonzo and several others. I do this to allow myself to explore different artistic avenues that
are, sometimes, very divergent in my nature. Over the years, these different pseudonyms have truly
developed into real individual characters that drive the type of materials and themes each artist tends to explore.

-Huey- is the bad boy of the group. He uses printmaking and/or painting as the medium where he creates
chaotic references to major artworks in history, classic sci-fi movies of the 1950's and 1960's or classic literature. He
also has two animated rocket characters that appear in most of his work that usually have something to do with the works chaotic nature.

-Weatherby- makes art from discarded materials. His work has socially or ecologically motivated themes.
He uses found objects and collages in his sculptures and also creates prints made from buildup cardboard plates which are known as collographs. Sometimes he frames the printing plates as well
and displays the plates as artworks in themselves.

-Romeo- is a naïve artist. He likes bright, reflective materials and black velvet paintings. He sometimes
makes puppets. His iconic images can be religiously oriented or simple homages to Elvis. He has a soft
spot in his heart for Dodo birds and their sad plight.

Sometimes the work created by these various artists blurs into one another but usually that is only temporary.
I also do work under my own name. These tend to be straightforward portraits or landscapes in
woodcut or watercolor. The portrait series is the most recent example.
